Heading to Chicago: What We’re Excited About for NeoCon and Design Days 2026
Few weeks on the commercial design calendar generate as much energy as NeoCon and Design Days in Chicago. Next month, the Avanto team, including our President, Matt Danyliw, will be on the ground at The Mart and across Fulton Market, soaking up everything the industry has to offer. We're packing our schedules with client meetings, showroom tours, product launches, and the kind of hallway conversations that often turn into the best ideas of the year.
Here's a look at what we're most excited about as we countdown to Chicago.
Reconnecting With Clients and Colleagues
At its heart, these events are about people. Our team is looking forward to spending real, face-to-face time with the clients, designers, dealers, and manufacturers who make our work possible. Whether it's a quick coffee between showrooms or a longer conversation about an upcoming project, these moments matter. They're how we stay close to what our clients are working on, what's challenging them, and where we can bring the most value.
Spotting What's Next in Commercial Design
Beyond the relationships, we're heading to Chicago with our eyes wide open for the trends shaping the next chapter of workplace design. A few we're especially watching:
Collaborative, flexible furniture solutions. The conversation around how people actually use space continues to evolve. We expect to see even more modular systems, reconfigurable settings, and pieces designed to support hybrid teams who need their environments to shift throughout the day. If it’s not moveable, it’s likely not getting specified.
Designing for a neurodiverse workforce. This continues to be one of the most important conversations happening in our industry right now. From acoustic considerations to sensory-friendly materials, lighting, and a wider range of work settings, designers and manufacturers are thinking more intentionally about how spaces support every kind of mind. We're eager to see how showrooms are translating that thinking into product.
AI integration in business. AI is no longer a future-tense topic. We're curious to see how manufacturers and design firms are weaving it into their products, workflows, and client experiences and what that means for the spaces we help bring to life. And importantly, how what we’re building here at Avanto can advance the conversation even further.
Inspirational design, full stop. Sometimes the biggest takeaway from Chicago isn't a single trend but a renewed sense of creative possibility. We always come home with fresh ideas, new material crushes, and a longer list of designers and makers we admire.
