Role Summary:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing key components of the financial reporting process on behalf of client accounts, ensuring the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP. This role acts as a strategic partner to client operations, project management, and finance teams supporting accurate reporting, applying industry best practices, and enabling informed decision-making for the clients served.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Compliance
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with US GAAP.
  • Ensure proper revenue recognition and cost alignment using the matching principle, especially for project-based and milestone-driven orders.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and perform month-end close activities.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries.
Work-in-Progress (WIP) & Project Accounting
  • Maintain accurate WIP schedules for open orders, tracking order status, deposits, costs, and revenue recognition timing.
  • Analyze and reconcile WIP to ensure proper cost capitalization and timely project closeouts.
  • Collaborate with project managers to align actual project progress with financial reporting.
Budgeting & Variance Analysis
  • Assist with budget preparation and financial forecasting.
  • Conduct variance analysis between actual results and budgets/forecasts.
  • Identify and explain key financial trends, anomalies, or risks.
Process Improvement & Internal Controls
  • Identify opportunities for automation and improved processes in financial reporting and order tracking.
  • Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial data.
  • Document and maintain accounting policies and procedures, with a focus on project-based operations.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in the furniture industry or project-based environments.
  • Strong understanding of matching principles and WIP accounting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Sage) and Excel (pivot tables, lookups).
  • Familiarity with project management tools or ERP systems used in the furniture industry (e.g., e-manage|ONE, TeamDesign) is a plus.
  • Furniture industry experience is required.
